意大利能源公司Enel宣布其可再生能源子公司Enel Green Power(EGP)，已被选中为埃塞俄比亚中部一座100兆瓦太阳能电站的优先竞标方。
这项耗资1.2亿美元的项目预计将于2019上网，所发电力将按一个20年期的PPA出售给埃塞俄比亚电力公司(EPP)。
这一招标于2016年5月在该国的可再生能源计划GTP 2框架内启动。最初吸引了超过60家投标方，最终有5家联合体入围。
埃塞俄比亚政府今年六月宣布了一项五年能源计划，力图使该国的能源结构多样化，并提高全国的电气化率。根据该国2020年能源规划，埃塞俄比亚将优先部署300兆瓦的光伏项目，此外还将部署820兆瓦的风力发电、570兆瓦的地热发电和3879兆瓦的新型水电站。十月初，政府推出了另部署250兆瓦光伏容量的资格预审。
埃塞俄比亚目前约有4.3GW的发电容量。其中，水力发电3810兆瓦，风力发电324兆瓦，地热发电7兆瓦，柴油发电量为143兆瓦。
