葡萄牙所属亚速尔群岛自治区政府宣布，将在2018年开建该群岛上第一个兆瓦级光伏发电项目。
这一电站将建在Corvo岛上，开发商为本土的亚速尔电力公司(EDA)，基建工程将从今年底开始。其他与项目相关的更多细节尚不得知。
亚速尔群岛目前有七座风力发电场、12座水力电站和两个地热电站，且将很快在特塞拉岛再建一个地热发电厂。目前，这些可再生能源电站覆盖了该群岛电力需求的35%。
同时，亚速尔还拥有一座由德国Younicos公司开发的兆瓦级可再生能源+储能系统电站，内含4.5兆瓦的风力发电、1兆瓦的太阳能和2.8兆瓦的锂离子蓄电池系统，通过Younicos开发的智能能源管理系统完全整合而成。
