芬兰能源解决方案制造商Wärtsilä已与泛非洲太阳能公司(Pan Africa Solar Ltd)签定了一项在尼日利亚建造75兆瓦光伏电站的合同。
这是Wärtsilä公司的首个公用事业规模并网光伏项目，将建在尼日利亚北部卡齐纳州，建成后将会是该国最大的光伏发电厂。
Wärtsilä特别指出，这一项目是2016年7月时由独立电力供应商提议、被尼日利亚联邦电力部下属的尼日利亚大宗电力贸易局(NBET)选中的14个太阳能项目之一。NBET当时签订了高达975兆瓦的太阳能购电协议。而第一个所签署的就是上述项目。
在尼日利亚，太阳能独立电力供应商们通常在执行了一个PPA后，会与联邦财政部协商并执行一个期权买卖协议（Put and Call Option Agreement, POCA）——这是尼日利亚政府最近实施的一项保障机制，它将支付风险从国有的NBET直接转移至财政部。
尼日利亚2030年可再生能源目标是30%的覆盖率。
