上周，Hemlock公司给美国总统唐纳德·特朗普发出了一封由数百名工人签署的信函，希望他能在即将处理的201案补救措施中将多晶硅问题纳入其中。信中写到：“如果不在太阳能电池板的201案补救措施中将多晶硅产业包括入内，将会是美国制造业的损失”，表示特朗普目前有一个特别的机会去推动一种完整的贸易胜利，恳求特朗普找到一个全面解决贸易纠纷的方案，包括重新进入中国的多晶硅市场，但目前还不清楚将如何运作。
在美国从德国和韩国进口多晶硅的期间，中国正在逐步建立起自己的多晶硅市场。
