比利时光伏协会PV-Vlaanderen所公布的初步数据显示，该国佛兰德大区约有188兆瓦的新增光伏装机容量并网。
这一市场的主要增长领域是住宅光伏，占新增装机容量的94%左右。其主要原因得益于10 kW以下装置的净计量方案。根据这一地区现行的光伏管理条例，只有10 kW以下的系统才有权在净计量下出售剩余电力，而较大项目的自我消费则有权领取绿色能源证书。
当地能源部在最近宣布了一系列措施，以支持商业和工业屋顶光伏在整个地区的发展，并公布了Tommel附近一个100兆瓦太阳能公园的招标。
至2016年底，弗兰德地区的光伏发电量已达到2554兆瓦，而整个比利时的产电量也只有3420兆瓦。另两个大区的产电量分别为916兆瓦（瓦隆地区）和56兆瓦（布鲁塞尔大都会区）。比利时的这三大区均有独立的能源系统和各自的太阳能及可再生能源政策。
