法国电网运营商Réseau de Transport d’Électricité (RTE)宣布，今年二季度可再生能源在该国电力组合中占比31%。这是自1960年以来，可再生能源首次在该国的电力结构中达到类似的比例。
RTE表示，实现这一比例的三大主要因素是：大量的水力发电，占据了法国电力需求的20%左右；风能、太阳能和生物能源，占比超过了需求的10%；以及传统上第二季度的需求低于秋冬季节的需求。
根据法国生态与团结过渡部(CSFD)发布的最新统计数据，法国今年一季度新增光伏设施出现了强劲增长，新增了246兆瓦的光伏发电量。截至3月底，法国太阳能装机容量已达到约8.3吉瓦。但这一数字仅占法国一季度总发电量的1.1%。
第二季度中，有69%的电力来自核电站。法国政府计划在2025年将这一比例降低到50%左右。
国有电力公司EDF在2017年12月曾宣布了一项方案，计划至2030年在法国部署30吉瓦的太阳能电站。与此同时，CSFD下属法国能源与气候总局正在为在该国最古老的核电站费森海姆核电站地址部署300兆瓦的太阳能项目进行招标。法国石油公司Total最近也透露了计划其位于法国的所有设施上建造10吉瓦的太阳能。
