菲律宾太阳能公司Solar Philippines在国家电力公司Meralco发起的50兆瓦太阳能项目招标中提交了每千瓦时菲律宾元P2.34（约合0.044美元）的报价。
公司首席执行官Leandro Leviste表示，这一报价是目前东南亚地区大型太阳能项目的最低出价。此前的最低报价是P2.99 ($0.056), 也是该公司在2017年由Meralco举行的一次太阳能招标中提交的。
菲律宾最近开始从FIT方案转向拍卖，以支持大型太阳能项目的建设。Solar Philippines表示，尽管东南亚地区的太阳能平均价格一直位于世界最高水平，但该公司希望它的这些报价能引导整个地区的太阳能价格赶上全球的标准。公司愿意在最初几年接受较低的回报，认为短期内需要牺牲利润，以便能使市场有长远的增长。
2017年8月，Solar Philippines在菲律宾开设了第一个光伏组件工厂，预计将从今年起每年生产800兆瓦的太阳能电池板。公司还计划至2018年底完成1吉瓦的太阳能装机容量，会将重点放在全球市场，如美国、印度、印度尼西亚、越南和缅甸，以及撒哈拉以南非洲地区的一些国家。
