Zawya.com 新闻门户网站曾报道称，沙特的主权财富基金PIF将会资助Elon Musk将其特斯拉电动汽车公司私有化。
但本周一，这一新闻门户的另一篇报道称，据“消息人士透露”，沙特PIF投资机构不仅不愿意为特斯拉提供私有化所需的约660亿美元，且有可能投资10亿美元收购特斯拉的竞争对手Lucid Motors的控股权。
据这一中东新闻网站报道，PIF前期将投入5亿美元给Lucid Motors——这家由特斯拉前副总裁Bernard Tse 2007年在加利福尼亚参与创办的公司。之后再根据实际情况注资，直到PIF成为大股东。
但Zawya的报道也同时声称，PIF和Lucid Motors之间的谈判对话不一定能带来协议的达成。《光伏杂志》就此事联系了Lucid Motors，但目前还没有得到回复。
据报道，Lucid已向其第一批客户收取了定金。该公司曾宣布其第一款电池驱动型汽车，10万美元一辆的Lucid Air sedan将在今年年底前开始生产。
Lucid还获得了中国国有华控基金(Tsinghua Capital)以及来自日本、美国和沙特的私人投资机构的资金支持。
PIF今年早些时候收购了特斯拉5%的股份。
