卡塔尔通用电力和水务公司（Kahramaa）——该国输配电系统所有者和运营商——透露在其500兆瓦太阳能项目招标中，有16家投标方通过了预审。

Kahramaa将在2018年底之前发出投标邀请。这一项目将建在该国首都多哈以西的哈尔萨格(Al-Kharsaa)，项目场地可容纳约700兆瓦的太阳能容量。
根据卡塔尔2018-2022国家发展战略（QNDS）目标，这一太阳能公园的第一期350兆瓦容量将在2020年底前并网。这一项目采用的模式为建设-拥有-经营-转让（BOOT），25年后其所有权将转让给Kahramaa。
卡塔尔石油公司（QP）和Kahramaa在今年6月份合资成立的Siraj Power Energy将作为战略性国家投资方参与这一项目。QP持有Siraj 40%的股份，而Kahramaa持有60%的股份。
卡塔尔在2017年底推出了新能源战略，即利用太阳能和可再生能源使国家能源机构达到多样化。由于有充足的阳光辐射，太阳能被认为是卡塔尔走向清洁、低本能源的最有效途径。
卡塔尔目前拥有一个300兆瓦的组件生产设施，为本土制造商卡塔尔太阳能（QSE）在多哈建造。
