国际可再生能源机构(IRENA)在其发布的《应用于发展中国家城市》报告中,描述了光伏模拟器技术的发展和广泛应用,并得出了一个主要结论:屋顶太阳能模拟器的使用目前还仅限于拥有成熟电力市场和强大研发能力的发达经济体,但现在它有可能扩展到新兴国家,特别是发展中国家。
这一研究报告的作者相信,太阳能模拟器技术已经变得足够价廉,可“以可承受的成本”在全球任何地方部署。
IRENA 发现,3D屋顶太阳能发电的低成本及太阳辐射模型,有可能成为新兴经济体的增长动力。但该报告的作者同时指出,由于不同的商业和监管环境,太阳能模拟器在发展中国家城市可能会遇到困难,如果不进行大幅改造,可能无法马上适用于这些发展中国家,因为这些国家地区的“监管制度往往并不成熟,仍倾向于传统的发电机。”
技术方面也需要进行重大的适应性调整,特别是在降低成本的技术方法,以及商业案例开发方面,以便能充分吻合发展中国家的特点。其目的是促使人们更多地使用如太阳能模拟器等已经被证实了的数据驱动型技术,从而制定出切实可行的政策和经济方案。
报告指出,全球城市地区约有1.3亿人口没有电力供应,其中约9,500万分布在撒哈拉以南非洲。
