世界银行将向孟加拉国提供1.85亿美元用于该国310兆瓦的可再生能源项目开发。
世行的拨款主要通过孟加拉国基础设施发展有限公司（IDCOL）发放，该公司到目前为止已经在可再生能源领域投资了20亿美元，而此次的新资金主要将被用于屋顶光伏，旨在到2022年部署超过300兆瓦的屋顶光伏容量。
IDCOL的一位高级官员告诉《光伏杂志》，由于可再生能源发电成本大幅下降至与化石燃料相当，许多企业目前都热衷于建造可再生能源发电厂。但任何想利用此类资金的企业家，自己必须提供20-30%的项目成本。
伴随着部件价格的下降，可再生能源项目对投资者的吸引力也在增加，预计将会有商业银行和其他私人机构跃跃欲试，“这样……IDCOL将能调动起2.12亿美元的资金用于可再生能源。”
此次资助的首批项目之一将是孟加拉芬尼Feni区的一个50兆瓦发电厂。
世行此次的信贷来自于贷款人国际开发协会，后者提供优惠性融资，贷款期限30年，包括5年的宽限期，利率为1.25%，外加0.75%的服务费。
