根据Multiconsult发表在挪威Solar Energy Cluster Solenergiklyngen网站上的统计数据，该国去年12月底的累计光伏装机容量已达68兆瓦。
挪威2016-2018年间的年新增光伏装机容量分别为11兆瓦、18兆瓦和23.5兆瓦。Solenergiklyngen表示，物价持续下跌、电价上涨以及对太阳能的更多关注等因素为这一增长贡献了部分力量。“越来越多的公司将太阳能纳入其产品组合。太阳能通过这种方式与水电和区域供热一起，成为了能源组合中更一体化的一部分。”
挪威政府实施了一项“附加客户”方案（“Plus Customer”）以支持屋顶太阳能的发展，该方案要求公用事业公司必须从光伏系统运营商处购买电力。
