比利时工程公司Tractebel是法国能源巨头Engie旗下子公司，计划在巴西国营电力公司Eletrobras Furnas拥有的52.2 MW Batalha水电项目中建造三个容量为30 MW的浮动光伏阵列。
Batalha光伏电站（UFVs）I期、II期和III期工程将配备90,900块太阳能电池板，Tractebel表示。
“为实现目标所需的光伏组件的平衡系统将在地面上开发，利用曾经的Batalha Hydro建筑工地，”该工程服务提供商补充道。
Tractebel可再生能源部门经理Fabiane Ferrao表示，未使用的水力发电水库上的浮动组件是用来减少碳排放的“智能”方法。
Batalha水电站位于巴西中部戈亚斯州的圣马科斯河上。 巴西在Sobradinho大坝拥有另外一座1 MW浮式太阳能发电厂，该大坝位于巴伊亚州Sobradinho的圣弗朗西斯科河上，是发电量为175 MW的水力发电站。该公司于2016年启动此项目，预计发电规模将扩建到5 MW。Chesf还在Balbina 大坝上安装了一个试验性浮动光伏阵列，这是位于亚马逊雨林Uatuma河上的水力发电站。
浮式光伏发电在巴西具有特殊优势，因为组件和浮动式安装结构可以帮助缓解非常棘手的水库蒸发问题，同时还可以在干旱时期增加电力供应。
