KIT气象和气候研究所对流层研究部门的痕量物质建模和气候过程小组负责人Bernhard Vogel表示:“在调查中,我们使用了来自气象站的测量数据和卫星数据。”
数据将由DWD专为这一应用而设的扩展数字天气预报系统进行处理。该项目建立在之前的Perdus倡议的基础上,它曾研究撒哈拉沙漠的尘埃落向德国的情况,以便进行太阳能预测。Permastrom项目将考虑如森林大火产生的气溶胶,并将对它们进行建模以预测其对云层形成的影响。
