据多家美国媒体报道，德国化工生产商瓦克集团位于田纳西州的多晶硅工厂于7月24日发生了一起不明事故。
该公司在《光伏》杂志发表声明称：“事故发生时，四名承包商正在其中一座工艺厂房内对未运转的设备进行维护。工人们当时正在维修一条已停止运行的管道。四名承包商立即被送往医院评估伤情。”
该公司表示，这个问题并没有影响到当地环境或周围的田纳西州查尔斯顿社区。但多晶硅分析师Johannes Bernreuter透露，这是该工厂在2016年初开始生产后的几个月内发生的一系列问题中的最新一起事故。
“对于像瓦克这样一家经验丰富的老牌多晶硅生产商来说，其美国工厂在四年之内发生了五起事故——其中包括一次大爆炸——实在令人尴尬。”Bernreuter说道。 7月中旬，中国多晶硅生产商保利协鑫（GCL Poly）的GCL Silicon多晶硅工厂也发生了一系列爆炸。据报道，这起事故导致工厂停止生产，对10%以上的世界多晶硅供应产生了冲击。
