据《马尼拉时报》报道，三个发电量均为1.2吉瓦的光伏项目已获得菲律宾能源部批准，可进行电网影响研究。
Padre Garcia太阳能发电项目就是其中之一，将由八打雁省的Solar Philippines Batangas Corp.建造。另外两个类似规模的项目 – Sta. Rosa Nueva Ecija 3和General Santos – 正由Solar Philippines Commercial Rooftop Projects Inc.开发。
该时报称，除此之外，还有其他多个太阳能项目（规模从5兆瓦到61兆瓦不等）已获得同样的许可。
在名为“能源虚拟一站式（EVOSS）系统”的计划下，这三个装机项目还被纳入配备基于网络的监测系统的太阳能项目列表中。到6月底，共有13.2吉瓦太阳能容量纳入该列表。
政府统计数据显示，根据该国可再生能源法，菲律宾已于今年上半年完成安装1.06吉瓦装机容量。该国大部分太阳能设施均依据原有上网电价制度、拍卖和净计量计划获得了保障。 菲律宾政府今年正引入“绿色能源电价计划”拍卖制度，旨在依据这一制度分配2吉瓦可再生能源产能。该国计划到2030年安装15吉瓦清洁能源。
