韩国航空宇宙研究院已进行了太阳能无人飞行器EAV-3的高空试飞活动,其配备了韩国制造商LG Chem生产的锂硫电池。
这家电池公司在新闻稿中说,这架小型飞行器设计初衷是用于在12公里或以上高度的平流层进行长途飞行。发动机由20米长的机翼和9米机体上的太阳能电池供电。LG Chem透露:“在白天,无人机利用太阳能电池和电池电力作为能源,而在夜间则依靠白天所充的电池电力。”
他们从上午08:36至晚上09:47在大约22公里高的韩国空域进行了飞行测试。LG Chem表示:“在总共13个小时的试验中,无人机共飞行7个小时,在平流层中12至22公里高度保持了稳定输出,这是普通飞行器无法企及的高度。”
该公司表示,EAV-3的储能系统必须经受住充满挑战的大气条件,包括接近零下70摄氏度的低温和25分之一个大气压的低压——如公司所述,这种环境几乎接近真空。这家电池供应商表示:“LG Chem计划在未来通过生产更多的锂硫电池试验产品来验证长时间飞行的极限。此外还计划在2025年后批量生产能量密度为目前锂离子电池两倍以上的锂硫电池。” 英国电池制造商Oxis Energy还计划使用锂硫电池为双座飞机提供电力。这种全电动飞行器的飞行时间将超过两个小时,行程约为200海里。
