英国商业、能源和工业战略部（BEIS）已经批准了一项项目部署规划，即英国能源公司InterGen正在开发的320兆瓦/640兆瓦时的储能综合项目。这个项目将在建成后成为欧洲最大的储能项目。
这个造价2亿英镑（合2.66亿美元）的项目预计部署在DP World伦敦货柜码头，这是一个位于埃塞克斯郡（Essex）泰晤士河畔的物流园区。这家公司表示，该储能系统可扩展至1.3吉瓦时，计划提供快速反应的电力和系统平衡，初期持续时间为2小时。公司透露，“电池在充满电状态下可以为30万户家庭供电两小时，不过它将主要用于支持和稳定现有的电力供应。”
这个巨大的储能设施有望在2024年上线，定于2022年动工。但关于该项目的更多技术或财务细节并未公布。但公司表示其正在林肯郡Spalding附近规划容量为175兆瓦/350兆瓦时的第二个大型电池项目，目前仍在等待政府审批。
InterGen目前在英国和澳大利亚共运营约4吉瓦的发电资产，其中包括伦敦附近一座800兆瓦的灵活的天然气联合循环发电厂，以及利物浦附近另一座810兆瓦的同类设施。
