Sunpower从2019年2月开始在该工厂生产其P系列组件，但在当年年底决定从光伏制造商转型为屋顶光伏阵列和储能系统的供应商。作为计划的一部分，Sunpower将其生产外包给现在作为一家独立公司运营的Maxeon Solar Technologies。
希尔斯伯勒工厂的停产计划预计将在3月至6月逐步实施。根据公司的一份声明，Sunpower预计工厂中主要从事生产的170名员工将在未来三至六个月内离开。假设重组成本在1000万美元至1200万美元，其中可能有高达500万欧元的遣散费，其余用作终止房地产租赁合同、关厂以及其他相关费用。这些费用计划全部以现金支付，主要将计入公司本财年第一和第二季度的账目。
Sunpower希望在第三季度完成重组，但仍留有转圜的余地。就在宣布计划重组的一天之后，Sunpower表示还在研究其他方案，不排除通过合资企业或其他潜在的合作关系出售工厂来继续运营的可能。
