根据比利时贸易机构Promotion des Energies Renouvelables（APERe）发布的新数据，比利时去年新增光伏部署量首次突破1 GW门槛。
2020年比利时全国安装的光伏系统总容量为1,010 MW，其中说荷兰语的佛兰德大区800 MW，说法语的瓦隆大区150 MW，布鲁塞尔首都大区50 MW。
作为对比，2019和2018年的新安装光伏容量仅有544 MW和367 MW。

佛兰德和布鲁塞尔大区今年的新安装容量均显著增加，而瓦隆大区则大幅减少。这种放缓的原因主要是250-750 kW的大型装置下降了60%，750 kW以上的超大型装置下降了85%。
在佛兰德，政府宣布给予采用净计量的光伏系统业主15年的宽限期来规避安装智能电表，随后住宅安装量增加了45%。然而，该宽限期在1月份被宪法法院的一项裁决宣告无效。
在全国范围内，规模不超过10 kW的小型装置占总装机容量的60-65%，而10-250 kWp的光伏阵列占10%，小于10 kW或大于250 kW的装置各占2%。
