1366科技公司研发了一种无切口晶圆生产技术，无需将硅锭锯成晶圆，而是直接用熔融硅形成晶圆。迄今为止，HPT已获得18项美国专利商标局专利，以及外国专利局授予的30项增补专利。这些专利涉及生产印刷式金属卤化物钙钛矿光伏（PV）器件的制造工艺。
新公司将从德克萨斯州投资商Hunt Energy Enterprises LLC（HEE）、美国薄膜组件制造商First Solar Inc.和比尔·盖茨的突破能源风险投资基金（BEV）及其他投资商处获得2500万美元的资金。1366科技公司首席执行官Frank van Mierlo说道：“我们独特的直接晶圆工艺为实现叠层组件提供了关键优势，而与HPT的合并让我们有了实现具有经济效益的太瓦级叠层解决方案的蓝图。”
