西班牙太阳能项目开发商Fotowatio Renewable Ventures（FRV）是阿联酋企业Abdul Latif Jameel Energy的下属公司，并已联合英国开发商Harmony Energy启动了在英国的规模最大的电池储能项目。
99 MW/198 MWh的Clay Tye设施正在埃塞克斯郡的M25附近进行建设，建成后将使用特斯拉的Megapack锂离子电池。
在Clay Tye项目之前，西萨塞克斯郡Burgess Hill附近的34 MW/68 MWh的Contego电池储能设施已经完工，已连上28个特斯拉Megapack电池系统后并网。这是继2020年同样由FRV和Harmony Energy开发的Holes Bay项目之后，英国第二个使用特斯拉Megapack的项目。
FRV首席执行官David Menéndez说表示，“Contego发电厂投产对FRV具有巨大意义，因为我们借此更接近了我们在国际上扩大储能项目组合的目标。这是我们在英国运营的第二个项目。在此期间，我们在澳大利亚还有一个项目正在建设之中。我们由此也为澳大利亚转向更可持续的能源模式做出重大贡献，这是我们作为一家企业的战略目标之一。”
这些设施将连接到英国电力网络公司（UK Power Networks）的配电网，将储能变为现实，并提高英国国家电网的灵活性。英国电力网络公司在一份声明中指出，“公司通过一条新的1.4公里的地下电缆将这处设施与当地一座变电站连接起来。为了克服特殊的工程挑战，施工过程涉及到一处约70米的定向钻穿越施工跨度。公司对配电室进行了改造，以适应从储能场地输入和输出电力所需的新的33000伏电路。”
