宜家已与SunPower建立合作关系，从秋季开始在加州选定的市场提供家用太阳能解决方案，宜家会员将能在店里买到住宅太阳能和电池储能系统。
合作结合了宜家在零售和家庭生活方面的优势，以及SunPower超过35年的太阳能行业经验。SunPower系统保修期25年，涵盖从电池板到支架再到监控硬件的所有内容，拥有太阳能行业中最高的直流电力输出保护，声称在第25年仍有92%的直流电力。
SunPower的储能产品名为SunVault，提供备用电源，并执行如峰值需求响应等其他服务，具有6.8 kW的连续功率、13 kWh/26 kWh的额定能量容量，并提供10年保修期。尺寸为26×63×15英寸，供室内或室外使用。
“宜家热衷于帮助我们的顾客在家中过上更可持续的生活。我们很自豪能与SunPower合作，将这项服务带到美国，使顾客能够做出旨在减少其整体气候足迹的个人选择，”CEO兼首席可持续发展官Javier Quinones说，并指出目标是在未来将这项服务扩展到特定的加州零售点以外的其他地方。
公司的可持续发展措施还延伸到住宅太阳能合作之外，包括到2030年成为“气候积极企业”。其投资组合包括多个公用事业规模的太阳能、风能和地热系统，90%的零售点都布设了太阳能电池组。
公司还制定了一个回购和转售计划，让宜家会员有机会卖回轻度使用过的宜家家具并兑换积分。这些家具不会被填埋，而是能重新利用，在卖场的特价处理区以低廉价格出售。
