Banks Group计划在英格兰东北部Doncaster附近的Thorpe Marsh煤电站旧址部署一个容量高达2.8 GWh的大规模电池储能系统。
自1994年以来一直被废弃的Thorpe Marsh火力发电站的改造将利用其与英国国家电网的1.45 GW连接，将来自北海风电场的电力并入电网。
Banks Group高级社区关系经理Lewis Stokes说：“Thorpe Marsh有着现成的电网连接，还靠近东海岸不断增长的风力发电场项目所发大部分电力的上岸接口位置，因此成为项目的绝佳选址。
该项目的第一阶段将是逐步清除和回收发电站的前灰烬处理区。Banks Group将在未来几个月开始就此征询公众意见。该项目一旦获批，预计将于2024年动工。
根据其他新闻，独立能源专家Balance Power和可再生能源开发商TagEnergy已经合作在英国各地建设、拥有并运营500 MW的电池储能系统项目。
在未来四年里将需要超过3亿英镑（3.357亿美元）的投资来交付这些项目。
这一合作关系将使TagEnergy成为这些项目的主要业主，扩大其目前超过300 MW的待建或在建电池项目组合。协议还将带来Balance Power的首批运营中储能项目。
本月早些时候，西班牙开发商Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV) 和英国可再生能源公司Tyler Hill Partners创建了一个平台，以便在英国开发、建设和运营高达1GW/2GWh的电池储能系统项目。该RV TH Powertek Ltd.平台预计将在未来五年内为这些项目提供总计10亿英镑投资。
RenewableUK 4月份数据显示，英国电池项目管道总规模已从一年前的16.1 GW翻倍到32.1 GW，运营中电池储能项目容量增长了45%，从1.1 GW增至1.6 GW，而正在建设的项目容量翻了不止一番，达到1.4 GW，另有10.4 GW项目获批，7.7 GW已在规划系统中提交。
