日本公司Marubeni和Sompo Japan已签署一份谅解备忘录，对废旧太阳能电池板进行适当的再利用和回收。保险公司Sompo为二手太阳能电池板提供缺陷担保，然后综合贸易公司Marubeni将于2023年开始销售。
合作将建立一个体系：首先由Marubeni检查废旧光伏组件的性能和再利用可行性，并将详情放到一个信息管理平台上，Marubeni将收集从处置时开始的面板历史信息，按公司声明所述，将使用区块链技术验证这些信息的可追溯性和真实性。
如果Marubeni认为旧组件质量足以重新使用，则Sompo将提供二次使用担保，即合作缺陷保证。但两家公司没有透露这种担保的期限。
Marubeni计划在2023年开始销售二次寿命面板，并在一份声明中说：“这标志着在日本首次通过一个平台为二手太阳能电池板提供缺陷担保。”
没有通过可重复使用检查的电池板将被回收，并将通过子公司Sompo Risk Management进行收购和回收。回收过程将与Marubeni的信息管理平台合作进行。声明说：“原材料通过该计划进行再利用和回收，有望得到循环利用，减少送往垃圾填埋场的工业废物数量。”
于2021年6月建立的该信息管理平台是日本环境部资源回收计划的一部分。
