澳大利亚可再生能源开发商Sunshine Hydro和Energy Estate宣布组建一家新的合资企业，专注于在澳大利亚维多利亚州开发“数个”大型抽水蓄能项目，并计划整合绿色氢生产和新建可再生能源发电产能。
这两家公司在今年早些时候宣布了将在昆士兰州开发可再生能源“超级混合”项目的计划，并确认将研究包括流动电池、太阳能热能、压缩空气和储氢等其他长期储能技术。
Sunshine Hydro董事长Michael Myer说，成立新企业是为了回应维州燃煤电厂加速关闭，以及州政府对新型清洁能源发电来源的支持，作为其到2035年达到95%可再生能源目标的一部分。
他说：“我们的目标是取代Latrobe Valley的燃煤发电站关停后将丧失的可调度容量，并支持维州绿色氢产业的发展。如果说到过去几个月给我们的教训，便是我们需要更多长期储能，不仅是为了保持供电，还为了让能源价格保持低位。随着我们迅速实现电气化并远离化石燃料，我们都需要明白，建立新的大规模深度储能至关重要，无论对消费者还是产业而言。”
新企业以这两家公司在昆州的现有合作关系为基础。他们正联合开发一个“超级混合”项目，其中包括1.8 GW风力发电和储水18小时的600 MW抽水蓄能。正在昆州中部开发的Djandori gung-i项目还将包括300 MW氢电解器、50 MW液化和50 MW氢燃料电池。两家公司表示，已获得昆州项目所需土地，预计将在2025年做出最终投资决定，能源生产有望在2028年启动。
