爱尔兰太阳能协会的最新报告表明，迄今为止爱尔兰已在59888台发电机上部署了约680 MW的太阳能。
其中，大部分发电量来自七个5 MW以上规模的大型发电厂，总容量达349 MW；微型发电太阳能电池阵列（包括规模不高于12千瓦的系统）提供了208 MW。小型自发自用地面安装式光伏电站的发电量为95 MW，而12至50千瓦的小型发电系统占到5 MW。
目前，爱尔兰运营着22 MW的公用事业规模系统（规模从1至5 MW不等），规模为200千瓦至1 MW系统的发电量为0.3 MW，且50至200千瓦规模的系统为0.54 MW。
该协会发表声明称：“ESB Networks预测，到2023年底，爱尔兰将有近1 GW的屋顶光伏发电量连接到公用事业规模的太阳能项目。这将使太阳能成为爱尔兰增长最快的可再生能源产业。”
爱尔兰推出返利计划，支持按照净计量电价方案运营屋顶光伏项目，旨在部署约380 MW的太阳能发电量。
该国还通过拍卖机制推动大规模太阳能发展。在首次可再生能源拍卖中，爱尔兰当局分配了796 MW的发电量。此次技术中立拍卖活动的平均加权投标价格为0.07408欧元（0.08美元）/千瓦时。
