印度国家火电公司(NTPC)将在其位于奥里萨邦的Talcher热电站建造一个机械储能系统。拟建的机械储能系统仅作为示范用途。该储能系统可能是一个固体重力储能系统,因为招标文件表明,该系统将设计成把电能转换成势能存储,然后根据需要再转换成电能。
在固体重力储能系统中,混凝土块等重物通过机电设备在地球引力场的作用下被提起。驱动机电设备将重物提升到一定高度的电能以重力势能的形式储存起来。当需要时,可以降低高度以释放能量。
NTPC表示,其Talcher热电站现有的锅炉钢结构的高度约为50米,将重新用来安装机械储能系统。该设计拟在NTPC Talcher热电厂实施机械存储系统,设想有一些混凝土/灰块挂在50米高的梁上,这些混凝土/灰块将以可控的方式(匀速)一个接一个地下落,并且两次下落之间不存在任何的时间延迟,以确保连续发电。
选定承包商的工作范围包括机械储能系统的供货、工程、设计、安装和调试。
