迪拜水电局发表声明称，其位于哈塔的抽水蓄能水电站建设已完成74%，计划将在2025年上半年完工。
该项目价值14.21亿阿联酋迪拉姆（3.688亿美元），容量为250 MW/1,500 MWh。其使用寿命为80年，周转效率达78.9%，可在90秒内作出电力需求响应。
该声明补充道：“这个水电站是一套储能装置，其周转效率达78.9%。它将利用上坝蓄水的势能，在水流通过1.2公里的地下隧道时将势能转化为动能。这种动能推动涡轮机旋转，将机械能转化为电能，再输送至迪拜水电局电网。”
目前，该项目的上坝已经建成，包括一个进水口上部结构及相关的桥梁，且上坝的72米混凝土墙也已完成施工。
早在2022年6月，这座设施就完成了44%。当时，迪拜水电局表示，它还将用来储存5 GW穆罕默德•本•拉希德•阿勒马克图姆太阳能公园的电力。目前，该设施已部分投入运营，还有一部分正在建设当中。它是阿拉伯联合酋长国乃至中东地区规模最大的太阳能发电站。
