据报道，REC在3月份重新启动了挪威工厂的生产，但8月份又以高电价为由再次关闭。
据挪威电视台NRK报道，REC在挪威的业务累计损失达3.35亿挪威克朗（合3120万美元）。本次停产预计将会影响约250名工人。 挪威太阳能生产商Norwegian Crystals和Norsun最近也宣布停止晶圆业务，前者已于8月底申请破产。与此同时，Norsun宣布计划在美国开设一家5 GW 的工厂。
