中国电建智利可再生能源公司——即中国电建的能源和基础设施开发部门——已在智利安托法加斯塔大区的María Elena完成一座480 MW太阳能发电站的建设。
该公司人力资源与劳资关系主管Claudio Araya Aguilar在领英（LinkedIn）上宣布了这一计划。他称，这座新建设施是智利目前最大的太阳能发电场。
新发电站占地435公顷，采用由一家未公开的制造厂商提供的882720块太阳能电池板建造而成。
Araya Aguila透露，该公司正在使用一种未具名的机器人光伏电池板清洁技术，可以帮助减少80%的清洁用水量。
该项目通过一条9.6公里的输电线路，在Miraje变电站接入国家电力系统。
2022年6月，由智利电力公司AME与法国电力集团（EDF）组建的Generadora Metropolitana合资公司开始建造该光伏电站。而在2021年底，他们曾透露获得了9.8亿美元的融资，其中一部分将投资建设太阳能发电站。
在此项目建设完工之前，智利最大的太阳能发电站是Guanchoi发电厂。该电站由意大利国家绿色电力智利公司（Enel Green Power Chile）开发而成，已于2023年7月投入商业运营，发电量达398 MW。
