由皇家墨尔本理工大学(RMIT University)牵头的科研人员和行业合作者团队开发出可回收的“水电池”,有望缓解大规模电网能源的安全问题。
RMIT理学院首席研究员Tianyi Ma教授说,该电池处于新兴领域——水性储能设备最前沿,本次突破显著提高了该技术的性能和使用寿命。
研究小组用水取代有机电解质使电流在正负极之间流动,意味着其电池不同于锂离子电池,不再可燃。
Ma教授说,该电池很适合大规模应用,是电网储能和可再生能源整合的理想选择,尤其是出于安全方面的考虑。
研究小组说:“随着我们技术的进步,其他类型的小规模储能应用,比如为人们的家庭和娱乐设备供电,有望成为现实。”
水电池的制造过程表明,镁和锌等材料在自然界中的丰富含量使得大规模生产具有可行性。
