法国能源集团Engie在智利的子公司Engie Chile透露，其已建成一座139 MW/638 MWh的蓄电池，并声称这是拉丁美洲最大的储能系统。
这座储能设施与位于智利北部安托法加斯塔大区Maira Elena——全世界太阳辐射强度最大的地区之一——181.2 MW的Coya太阳能发电站相连。Engie在2022年12月宣布了这个项目。
这套装置由232个集装箱组成，它们均匀分布在太阳能发电站的58个逆变器中，相当于年均200 GWh的发电量。
Engie Chile可再生能源董事总经理Juan Villavicencio表示：“继BESS Coya投入商业运营后，我们如今在智利拥有640 MWh的储能容量。此外，我们目前还有两个项目正在建设当中，即BESS Tamaya（68 MW/418 MWh）和BESS Capricornio（48 MW/264 MWh）项目。一旦完工，它们将提供约255 MW的电力，主要在夜间放电5小时。”
中国制造商阳光电源（Sungrow）是该项目的蓄电池供应商，负责为这套储能系统提供PowerTitan液冷储能技术。
Coya太阳能发电站已于2023年4月投入运营。目前，Engie在智利阿里卡大区运营着另一套储能系统，这套锂离子电池储能系统于2019年投入使用且发电量为2 MWh。
