Boundiali太阳能发电厂于2018年首次宣布融资，并于2022年12月公布试运行计划。这座37.5 MW的发电厂被称为该国第一个大型太阳能电池阵列，将向该国的公用事业公司科特迪瓦电力公司出售电力。
该太阳能发电厂的第二阶段开发也已开始，预计将于2025年4月完工。该项目总成本为7560万欧元（8180万美元），预计将为7万户家庭供电，相当于每年减少6万吨二氧化碳排放量。在施工期间，该项目创造了300多个直接和间接的就业机会。
该项目是科特迪瓦实现电力生产多样化努力的一部分。该国的目标是到2030年，将包括水力发电在内的可再生能源在其电力结构中的份额提高至45%。
今年2月，科特迪瓦政府签署了一份52 MW太阳能发电厂的新特许协议，该电厂将于今年第二季度开始建设。科特迪瓦能源部长Mamadou Sangafowa Coulibaly也透露了将Boundiali电厂产能扩大至80 MW的计划。
根据国际可再生能源署（IRENA）的数据，截至2023年底，科特迪瓦的太阳能装机容量为46 MW。
