德国投资公司Hansainvest Real Assets在德国莱比锡附近的Witznitz启动了一座605 MW的太阳能发电厂。
这座设施是目前欧洲最大的运营光伏项目。而在其投入使用之前，欧洲最大的太阳能装置曾是横跨西班牙南部埃斯特雷马杜拉地区的乌萨格雷（Usagre）、伊诺霍萨德尔瓦列（Hinojosa del Valle）和比恩维尼达（Bienvenida）三个城市的500 MW的Núñez de Balboa项目。
在这座新建发电厂现场，项目开发商Move On Energy计划在2024年夏季再安装45 MW发电量。Witznitz项目于2022年6月举行开工奠基仪式，并在不到两年的时间内顺利建成。
Move On Energy在500公顷的“Witznitz II”露天褐煤矿旧址上部署了约110万块太阳能组件。作为该项目的一部分，还新建了骑行车道。这座大型发电厂四周围栏处也设置了树篱。
Hansainvest Real Assets还计划测试“太阳能组件下方区域的并行农业用途”，并为此设置了一块5至10公顷的测试区域。
2023年，该投资公司与壳牌能源欧洲公司签订了一项长期购电协议，约定从这座发电厂购买太阳能电力。
