据奥地利光伏协会（PV Austria）称，光伏已成为一个真正的经济因素。该行业协会指出，联邦气候行动部最近公布了2023年国内光伏市场的关键数据。
去年奥地利新增约13.4万套光伏系统，总输出功率达2.6 GW，意味着新装系统数量几乎增至三倍，规划和建设部门收入增幅也是如此，达到43亿欧元（46亿美元），增加额达21亿欧元。PV Austria表示就业人数因此翻番，达到近13000个全职岗位。
截至2023年底，奥地利共安装约39万套光伏系统，总装机容量达6.4 GW。太阳能发电量约占当前电力需求的12%。但协会对今年的扩张预测较为谨慎。PV Austria指出：“为进一步持续扩大光伏发电，急需新的动力。”该国市场已趋于正常，现有望保持在“长期稳定水平”。
PV Austria董事总经理Vera Immitzer解释说：“目前整体经济形势有些紧张，绿色技术领域也明显呈此态势，但我们仍充满信心。”
政府目标是到2040年实现41 GW目标。PV Austria补充说，标准化和缩短审批程序、快速扩建电网以及通过《电力行业法》（ElWG）将确保光伏技术更快发展。
