立陶宛太阳能开发商SNG Solar已与里加自由港管理局签署协议，将在此地建设100 MW太阳能发电站。
根据协议，SNG Solar将在五年内建成项目，包括安装太阳能电池板，将其连接到110 kV线路，以及建设一座中高压变电站，总投资预计在6000万欧元（6680万美元）到8000万欧元之间。
今年早先，SNG Solar通过拍卖获得了土地租赁权。该站预计每年可生产约100,000 MWh绿色电力，里加自由港将获得其中2.5%，用于支持港口基础设施和运营。
这座100 MW太阳能设施将建在里加的道加瓦河左岸的Spilve Meadows一块177.2公顷土地上，属于将该地区改造成太阳能发电、储能、氢和替代燃料生产中心，以及工业和物流园区的自由港计划的一部分。
建成后，该项目将成为波罗的海地区最大的太阳能园区之一。2023年5月，拉脱维亚开发商PurpleGreen Energy B宣布计划在俄罗斯边境附近建造一座400 MW太阳能发电站。
根据国际可再生能源机构数据，到2023年底，拉脱维亚太阳能装机容量已达353 MW。
