塞浦路斯的削减幅度再创新高，但并非意料之外。一年前，曾有当地输电网运营商预测，由于季节性需求低迷且为了维持电网稳定，该国需要在2024年削减28%的国内可再生能源发电量。
CyprusGrid——作为一个专注于塞浦路斯电力行业的能源分析平台——报告称，去年该国削减了29%的可再生能源电力。
CyprusGrid的创始人Andreas Procopiou告诉《光伏》杂志，这是基于当地电网运营商的公开数据计算得出的结果。
Procopiou称，2022年塞浦路斯削减了3.3%的可再生能源。削减幅度在2023年上升到13.4%，并去年达到创纪录的29%，相当于约28000户家庭一年的用电量。
2024年，塞浦路斯新增光伏装机容量159 MW，主要采用净计量和净计费制度。目前，该国共计拥有1478 MW化石燃料发电量、797 MW光伏发电量、155 MW风力发电量和12.4 MW生物质发电量。
Procopiou表示：“尽管系统中的可再生能源发电厂数量增多，但多年来单位兆瓦的装机量对该岛电力需求的实际贡献却在下降。原因在于电力系统尚不具备必要的灵活性来适应占比不断增加的可变可再生能源发电量。为了始终维持电网稳定，运营商仍然必须运行化石燃料发电厂，由此导致了绿色电力的削减。尤其在秋季和春季等需求低迷时期，削减更加频繁。除非采用储能和现代能源管理方法，否则塞浦路斯将继续浪费绿色能源。”
塞浦路斯能源、商业和工业部近期启动了该国首个大规模储能系统补贴计划，要求现有可再生能源工厂安装储能装置。
《光伏》杂志已报道过这项新的补贴计划，但对该计划能否足够快速地增加储能容量从而防止塞浦路斯岛浪费低成本、无排放的可再生能源仍存有疑问。
