分析人士说，屋顶太阳能约占印度太阳能总装机容量的20%。工商业领域继续以66%的份额引领屋顶市场。三到五年的投资回收期、不断下降的组件价格以及创新的融资模式正在推动纺织、制药、零售和数据中心等行业采用屋顶太阳能。
总理 Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana计划的目标是在1000万户家庭安装屋顶太阳能，并提供高达7.8万卢比（合910美元）的补贴。该计划通过降低电费来支持低收入和中等收入家庭，目标是创造近170万个就业机会，加强国内太阳能供应链。截至2025年3月10日，住宅屋顶项目安装量达到100万套。
